Still Living

Hello everyone, sorry for being quiet for such a long time!

Till now there was no internet available so I hadn't have the chance to blog something.

I am in a place called Khajurau at the moment. 

Yesterday I saw the Taj Mahal and some really old monuments. It was very impressive and you surely

 will see pictures as soon as the connection works properly!

Hey alle zusammen, tut mir leid dass ich mich so lange nicht mehr gemeldet habe!

Bis jetzt war gab es nirgendwo genug Internet ich hatte also keine Chance zu bloggen. 

Gerade bin ich nach 5 Stunden Zug in einem Hotel in Khajurau angekommen, ein Ort in Nordindien

 mit großen Nationalparks und viel Natur. 

Gestern habe ich den Taj Mahal und super schöne alte Gebäude gesehen. Es war sehr beeindruckend

 und sobald das Internet besser ist werdet ihr sicher viele Fotos sehen!

Goodbye Mumbai, Hello New Delhi!

 So here is the first post directly from our first Hotel in Delhi.

The past 18 Hours we spend the time on a train, talking, listening to music, taking pictures and sleeping.

It was a relieve to get some fresh air when we left the train station!

My first impression of New Delhi is very good: The air is really clean and cool compared to Mumbai

and the streets are kind of clean.

What surprised me was the winter monsoon, because I didn't see a raindrop in 5 month!

We are going sightseeing in some time, keep updated :)

Okay, hier kommt der erste Post direkt aus unserem Hotel in Delhi.

Die letzten 18 Stunden haben wir im Zug plaudernd, musikörend, und schlafend. 

Es war eine große erleichterung endlcih wieder frische Luft zu atmen als wir aus dem Bahnhof kamen!

Mein erster Eindruck von Delhi ist sehr gut: die Luft ist sauber und frisch im vergleich zu Mumbau

und die Straßen sind einigermaßen sauber. 

Was mich überrascht hat was der Wintermonsun, da ich seit 5 Monaten keinen einzigen Tropfen Regen gesehen habe. 

Nachher gehen wir Sightseeing, bleibt dran :)

The New Fellow

As I already mentioned, I got a new fellow!

It is nothing else than one of the first SLR Cameras of Canon, the AV-1. 

A few days ago when we went to the chow Bazaar, I entered a huge camera treasure - chest.

The whole store was full with cameras, cameras hanging from the ceiling, cameras in shelves, cameras

 on the floor, cameras on the walls, cameras everywhere!

And suddenly, I saw something blinking in the corner, it was the AV-1 camera. 

Such an old model in such a good constitution. 

It was very hard for me to seem only half interested to buy the camera when I bargained with the seller. 

But I got the good piece for about 25€. 

Yesterday I went to a camera "doctor" in town to check the camera and the shock was huge when he

told me that camera was helplessly broken. 

I begged so long for him to try to repair it, till he finally said he will give it a try. 

And somehow my karma must be really good because today I got a call that he succeeded!

Soo, here it is: My new friend the canon AV-1 !

Oh and by the way: Tomorrow I will be leaving Mumbai city for about 3 weeks to north India.

Posts will come not that regularly in that time but hold on, cause north India is fantastic!

Wie ich schon eimal angekündigt habe, habe ich einen neuen Gefährten!

Es ist niemand anders als eine der ersten SLR Kameras von Canon, die Canon AV-1.

Vor ein paar Tagen als wir zum Chow Bazaar gegangen sind, habe ich diese riesige Kamera - Schatzkiste entdeckt!

Der ganze Laden war voll von Kameras: Kameras an der Decke, Kameras in Schränken, Kameras an den Wänden, Kameras überall!

Und auf einmal habe ich ein Blinken in der Ecke gesehen. Ein kleiner Sonnenstrahl, reflektiert auf dieser Canon AV-1. 

So eine Alte Kamera und doch so gut erhalten habe ich selten gesehen. 

Es war jedenfalls sehr schwer nicht wirklich interessiert in der Kamera zu erscheinen als ich sie mit dem Verkäufer runtergehandelt habe. 

Aber ich habe es geschafft und das gute Stück für ca. 25€ bekommen. 

Gestern bin ich zu einem Kamera "Doktor" in die Innenstadt gefahren und der Schock war groß als er mir sagte, die Kamera sei "unheilbar".

Ich habe ihn daraufhin so lange angebettelt zu versuchen sie zu reparieren bis er nachgeben musste.

Und mein Karma muss ziemlich gut sein, denn heute habe ich einen Anruf erhalten, dass die Kamera repariert sei!

Alsoo, hier ist sie: Meine neue Freundin die Canon AV-1 !

Achso, dass ich es nicht vergesse: Morgen werde ich Mumbai für ca. 3 Wochen verlassen nach Nordindien. 

Ich werde nicht regelmäßig posten können aber bleibt dran, denn Nordindien will man nicht verpassen!

It's Mumbai #03 the Chow Bazaar

Yesterday I went with a few friends to a Bazaar near the town side called "The Chow Bazaar"

When we walked from the train station to the Bazaar, we had to cross the most dirty streets possible 

of Mumbai. They killed goats on the street to sell the meet, and everywhere you could see 

Eagles in search of Carrion. I know. Not very nice. 

But the Bazaar was beautiful though!

Some stores where like a treasure chest: in every corner something new, something small and beautiful!

You could find everything there: from old movie posters, clocks and buttons to bells, bags, cameras, 

old TV's and more. 

I got a new old analogue camera which I will present you in another post!

Gestern bin ich mit ein paar Freunden zu einem Basar in der nähe der Innenstadt gefahren namens "Chow Basar"

Um zu dem Markt zu kommen mussten wir erst mal durch die wahscheinlich dreckigsten Straßen Mumbais laufen.

Direkt auf der Straße wurden Ziegen getötet und das Fleisch frisch verkauft. 

Überall flogen Adler herum auf der Suche nach Aas. Ich weiß. Nicht lecker.

Doch es hat sich gelohnt, der Basar war wunderschön!

Manche Läden waren wie eine Schatzkiste, in jeder ecke konnte man etwas neues entdecken, etwas kleines hübsches. 

Auf dem Basar konnte man einfach alles kaufen: von alten Filmplakaten, Uhren und Glocken zu

Knöpfen, Taschen, Kameras, alten Fernsehern und mehr. 

Ich habe eine neue Analoge Kamera erstanden zu der bestimmt noch mal ein anderer Post kommt!

Eastern Patterns

Hey, here I am again!

I hope you all enjoyed the Valentines Day as I did and had a good time.

I went for some sushi with my friends and I swear, People could have rolled me out of the restaurant afterwords :D

There was so much good food and they had ice cream for free! - Thats a deathly trap for someone like me.

Today the weather was so hot that I went home very early. I cant bear so  much heat.

To kill the time, I designed myself a "Mehendi". Its a pattern that you draw with Henna on your Hands

and it will stay for approximately 2 Weeks.

In India the people apply very very thin, detailed, beautiful mehendis  for example for weddings.

I think I still need some practice but I am very content with the outcome!

Hey, hier bin ich wieder!

Ich hoffe ihr alle habt den Valentinstag so genossen wie ich und hattet eine schöne Zeit!

Ich bin mit ein paar freunden Sushi essen gegangen und ich schwöre: man hätte mich danach gut aus dem

Restaurant rausrollen können :D

Es gab viel zu viel gutes essen dort und das Eis was kostenlos! - das ist eine tödliche Falle für jemanden wie mich!

Heute war es draußen so heiß dass ich früher nach Hause gegangen bin. Ich kann zu viel Hitze einfach nicht ertragen.

Um die Zeit zu vertreiben habe ich mir ein "mehendi" designed. Es ist ein Muster was man mit Henna auf die Hand aufträgt u d ca. 2 Wochen hält.

In Indien gestalten die Leute wirklich schöne, dünne, detaillierte Mehendis für vor allem Hochzeiten.

Ich glaube, ich muss mich darin noch ein bisschen üben aber ich bin schon sehr zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis!

Glitter And Silk

Hey, here I am again :)

I wanted to show you some pictures of the Saree that I wore yesterday for some funktion. 

It's the traditional dress of India. 

What I really like about the saree that It is something very smooth, silky, colorful and glittery. 

While I dont really like to wear too much glittery stuff, on a saree it looks just wonderful!

The Girls wear lots of Bangles, Big necklaces and Earrings and a so called "Bhindi" on their forehead.

Married women mostly wear a red Bhindi.

Ich wollte euch ein paar Bilder von dem Sari den ich gestern für eine Veranstaltung getragen habe zeigen. 

Es ist Indiens Traditionelles Kleidungsstück, was heute noch von vielen Erwachsenen getragen wird 

(Die jüngere Generation in Mumbai trägt den Sari nur noch zu festlichen Veranstaltungen)

 Was ich wirklich am Sari mag, ist dass es so weich, seidig, bunt und glitzernd ist. 

Während ich wirklich nicht gerne glitzernde Dinge im Alltag trage, finde ich es Wunderschön am Sari. 

Die Mädchen tragen viele, viele Armbänder, große Ketten und Ohrringe und ein sogenanntes "Bhindi" auf ihrer Stirn zu Sari. 

Verheiratete Frauen tragen meistens ein rotes Bhindi.

Mixtape 2013 - February - Februar

My musical misstep. 

Mein Musikalischer Fehltritt.

For the song for February Annie from Annie Waits *click* is asking for a musical misstep that we made one day:
Some music that actually doesn't fit into our regular music list, something that is actually really tasteless
but we still listen to it.
Well, it was not very easy to find out what music I have is considered as tasteless for others. But I came to
the conclusion that I indeed have something like that in my playlist:
It's some of the Bollywood music thats really hyped in Mumbai.
That kind of music is really very commercial with cheap beats, lots of auto tune and all those things I actually really
dont like in music. But somehow I am still listening to it. It is something that connects me to the city in wich
I am living. It is simply a part of the culture. And because the songs are in another language I dont even have
to understand what they are singing there what is making the music for sure a little bit better for me ^^

Annie von Annie waits *click* fragt für den Song für Februar nach einem Musikalischen Fehltritt den wir mal gemacht haben:
Musik die eigentlich nicht wirklich in unsere Musikgalerie passt, die eigentlich sehr geschmacklos ist und die wir uns aber trotzdem anhören und mögen.
Naja, am Anfang war es nicht einfach Musik in meiner mediathek zu finden die andere geschmacklos
 finden  aber später bin ich dann auf die Bollywood Musik in meinem iPod gestoßen, die in Mumbai bis ins letzte gehyped wird. 
Bollywood ist total kommerziell ausgerichtet Musik, bis oben hin voll mit billigen beats, Auto Tune und all
den Dingen die ich eigentlich so überhaupt nicht in Musik leiden kann. 
Trotzdem höre ich sie mir gerne an, Aus irgendeinem Grund verbindet sie mich mit der Stadt in der ich lebe. Und durchaus auch zu der Kultur um mich herum. 
Und da die Lieder meist in einer ganz anderen Sprache sind muss ich zum Glück den sicher
 schmalzigen Text nicht verstehen weshalb ich die Musik wahrscheinlich auch aushalte und irgendwie mag ^^

Hidden Places

Hey! 

I could finally show you a picture of our costumes of our dance performance ^^ Do you like it?

(We also had a second costume but unfortunately i didn't made a picture of it)

Today I went with some friends to the south of Mumbai. It is the more touristy area with all the sights 

and old historical buildings. In the street market,  a little girl gave me some jasmine flowers and tied them around my arm.

I gave her a chowpatti (Indian bread) for that :) 

You could also get very pretty bangles, earrings and lots of antique clocks, compasses and pipes there. 

Later we went to a little restaurant, hidden on the top of a Hotel near the harbor. 

The view was fantastic!

Endlich kann ich euch ein Foto mit unseren Kostümen zeigen ^^ wie findet ihr es?

(Wir hatten noch ein zweites Kostüm, ich habe aber vergessen ein Foto davon zu machen)

Heute bin ich mit ein paar Freunden in den Süden Mumbais gefahren. 

Es ist mehr der touristische Part von Mumbai mit allen Sehenswürdigkeiten und historischen Gebäuden. 

Auf dem Straßenmarkt hat mir ein Mädchen Jasmin Blüten um das Handgelenk gebunden. Ich habe

Ihr ein Chapati dafür gegeben (Indisches Brot). 

Auf dem Straßenmarkt kann man super schöne Armbänder, Ohrringe und eine ganze menge antiker Uhren, 

Kompässe und Pfeifen kaufen. 

Später sind wir in ein kleines Restaurant, versteckt auf dem Dach eines Hotels am Hafen gegangen. 

Die Aussicht war wunderschön!

Dont't Worry, Life Is Easy!

Here I am again!

The day before yesterday we had to wake up at 5 o' clock and everyone who knows me a bit better

knows that thats like impossible for me! 

Before the sun rose we had to take a bus out of the city to a place called Ambey Valley. That is where

we had to perform.

The dance was very good I think.. In the next days I will upload a video also. (first I need

the agreement of the other people in the video to post it...)

On the way back we stopped somewhere with the bus to see the landscape which was fantastic!

There where also some cows and monkeys running around :) 

Today I studied a little bit of Hindi...

Hier bin ich wieder!

Vorgestern mussten wir schon um 5 Uhr aufstehen und jeder der mich ein bisschen besser kennt weiß, 

das das so ziemlich unmöglich für mich ist!

Bevor die Sonne überhaupt aufgegangen war saßen wir in einem Bus raus aus der Stadt. 

Ziel war ein großes Resort namens Ambey Valley. 

Ziemlich traurig eigentlich: Wir mussten mit den Bus durch ein großes Tor fahren und dahinter war 

eine Sicherheitskontrolle. Ambey Valley ist größer als ein durchschnittliches Dorf und umzäunt von Stacheldraht. Das Gras in Ambey Valley ist extrem grün und drumherum vertrocknet alles. 

In Ambey Valley sind große Villen und drumherum Wellenblechhäuser. 

Traurig, dieser Kontrast, oder?

Naja, Mussten wir unseren Tanz in Ambey Valley aufführen und ich glaube fast alles ist recht gut gelaufen.

Sobald ich die Erlaubnis habe, kann ich ein Video posten :) 

Und Heute... Heute habe ich mal wieder ein bisschen Hindi gelernt..

Goodbye January!

Today I forgot to put the memory card in to my camera. When I wanted to click a picture, it just
 wouldn't work! I am happy that the camera isn't broken and that its just me and my 6th sense to forget
 everything possible at the most impossible places...

So I decided to make a little review for January with pictures of the best or most important moments. 

Up you can see my friend Gauri. Gauri is the 1 year old kid of the Housemaid. She brings it everyday
 cause she cant just leave it home (obviously).

Gauri is a very silent little kid, but this month, she started saying some word in probably fantasy
 language and laughing at everything or everyone possible. I fell in love my friends :)

Another thing that made me happy this month was a packet of my Family in Berlin. They sent me short
 bread and warm clothes for my coming trip to the desert.  

I had very long Skype sessions with my friends and somehow, I always have to smile now when I take
 out my iPod! 

Thanks for sending me that picture of you Pauline! 

And of course there was the Swedish House Mafia concert!

Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow I won't post. Now finally the dance performance is in 2 Days
 and the practice is kinda though. 

So cross your fingers that everything will go well!

You will definitely see some pictures of the costumes we have to wear, they are worth a laughter! 

Heute habe ich dummerweise vergessen die Speicherkarte zurück in meine Kamera zu stecken. 

Als ich also ein Foto machen wollte, hat es einfach nicht funktioniert!

Ich bin froh das meine Kamera nicht kaputt ist und das es nur an mir und meinem unglaublich starken
 6ten Sinn liegt alles erdenkliche an den unmöglichsten Orten zu vergessen...

Also habe ich mich dazu entschieden einen kleinen Rückblick für diesen Januar zu schreiben mit 
Bildern von den besten oder wichtigsten Momenten. 

Oben könnt ihr ein Bild von meiner Freundin Gauri sehen. Gauri das einjährige Kind von unserem
 Hausmädchen. Sie bringt ihr Kind jedes Mal mit, da sie es natürlich nicht zuhause lassen kann. 

Gauri ist ziemlich still. Doch diesen Monat hat sie angefangen in ihrer eigenen Fantasiesprache zu 
brabbeln und jeden und alles anzulachen. Ich habe mich verliebt meine Freunde :)

Was mich noch glücklich gemacht hat in diesem Monat war das Packet was meine Familie aus Berlin
 mir geschickt hat: Plätzchen, Lebkuchen und warme Sachen für meine Tour die ich bald machen
 werde in die Wüste. 

Ich hatte sehr lange Skype Konversationen und irgendwie muss ich jetzt immer lächeln wenn ich 
meinen iPod anmache! Danke dass du mir dieses Bild geschickt hast Pauline!

Und da war natürlich das Swedish House Mafia Konzert!

Morgen und übermorgen werde ich nicht posten. In 2 Tagen ist nämlich endlich der Tanzauftritt und
 die Proben sind ziemlich anstrengend. Um so mehr könnt ihr euch auf die Bilder von unserem Kostüm
 freuen, die sind jedenfalls einen Lacher wert!
